February 14, 2025

Ostara Inc., a St. Louis-based agtech firm that developed technology to repurpose nutrients from water treatment plants to make fertilizer, has named a new CEO.

The company has hired Tom Snipes as CEO, it said Monday in a press release. He previously had been CEO since April 2024 of Palm City, Florida-based Custom Agronomics, a maker of liquid nutrients and specialty chemicals, according to LinkedIn.

Founded in 2005 in Vancouver, Canada, as Ostara Nutrient Recovery Technologies Inc., what’s now Ostara Inc. is based in St. Louis after relocating its headquarters from Canada in 2023, according to registration filings with the Missouri secretary of state’s office.

Ostara now is headquartered in leased space in the EDGE@BRDG building at 1001 N. Warson Road, located in BRDG Park at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center campus in Creve Coeur.
